Pop-up classes: know before you go

Our classes typically span between 45 to 60 minutes, tailored to accommodate the varying levels of engagement and interest among children. We specialize in serving the preschool to elementary age groups, with each class clearly designated for a specific age range as indicated on the class description.

Prior registration is required before the scheduled class date to allow us to adequately prepare and procure the necessary supplies for the event. Please note that our policy stipulates no refunds for missed classes. If you notify us that your child will be missing class 48 hours in advance, we are will work with you to arrange a make-up class. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

One parent/guardian is required to stay with the child for the entirety of the class. If siblings are present, please note that only the registered child is permitted to participate and use the provided materials. Dress for the potential for mess!

Pop-up class FAQ

Our classes will typically have a theme and stations for kids to do 2-3 activities. There’s usually more focus on either process art or science experiments, but sometimes there will be a combination of both. Sensory play and read-alouds are also often involved. Classes range from 45 minutes to 1 hour. A parent or caregiver must stay with the child and supervise, as well as assist, their child.

At this time, we are only offering individual classes.

Only registered children are permitted to participate and use the provided materials. Siblings in the same age group can register for an additional spot. If unregistered  siblings must be present, it is suggested that you bring something quiet to keep them occupied. We ask that you be mindful that parents are required to supervise all children that attend and your registered child will likely need your hands on assistance. Also keep in mind that when classes are indoors, space is limited.

At this time, we are not offering a sibling discount.

Preregistration, payment, and a signed waiver are required prior to the start of class.

This is not a drop off event. Children must be supervised by their parent/caregiver at all times.

Children should dress for messy, creative play. They should also be comfortable and weather appropriate for classes that take place outdoors.

Tickets are non-refundable, but with notice of 48 hours or more, we can arrange for your child to take a class at a later date. There will be no refunds for missed classes.

Our classes are designed for preschool and elementary aged children. When signing up for a particular class, the recommended age group will be stated in the class description.

If you have an interest in a private class or party, reach out to us and we can get you more information.

Reviews

“As a retired teacher and current Nana of five, I was impressed with the emphasis on learning through arts and crafts, play, experimentation and creativity. The three teachers bring an expertise and experience to the classes you will be happy to find. All the children in our group were attentive and eager learners. The presentations were well-paced and the instructions for the kids’ crafts participation were easy to follow…and fun.(Even for this nana.) Held at The Scoop in Fuquay-Varina, the children were able to play afterwards on the playground and explore the farm animals on site…and get a free scoop of ice cream! Thank you Otterly Curious for such a fun learning experience. We will be back soon.”

“We had a great time at the Otterly Curious Harry Potter class! My son loved the hands-on experiments, playing with fun materials, and the art activities. As a mom, I loved how engaging, well-run, and organized the class was and, even better, that I didn’t have to clean up after! We will definitely be back!”

“I have had the opportunity to take my kids to two different classes with Otterly Curious. Both classes were very well thought out, engaging and fun for my kids (ages 5 & 8). We loved the science candy class and the Harry Potter science class. Even though both were science classes, all of the experiments were different! Teachers are very warm and inviting, working with all kids individual needs. Looking forward to more themed educational activities from Otterly Curious!.”
